When Dr. Lynn Pierri began practicing, Suffolk County had never had a female oral surgeon. She became the first, and then spent more than forty years on Long Island making the distinction beside the point.
She is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and the founder of Destination Dental in Hauppauge. Along the way she led one of the first dedicated oral surgery suites in New York State, and she holds a state record in her field for continuing education, with more than 5,500 hours logged. That number is worth sitting with: it represents decades of choosing to keep going back to school while running a surgical practice.
