Conversations
Readers writing back. This is a small, unhurried room for the people who read Long Island Wave to talk with each other.
Pick a conversation
Each one stays open indefinitely, so a thread from months ago is still a fine place to start. Kind, curious and on-topic, please.
Three things worth knowing
Signing in takes a minute
Enter your email and we send a one-click link and a six-digit code. There is nothing to remember and nothing to reset. Reading is always free and never needs an account.
Threads here, comments there
Conversations on this page are for the bigger, ongoing subjects. Every article also has its own comments, for when you want to respond to one specific piece.
Someone is actually reading
Posts appear straight away and are moderated by hand. You can delete anything you have written, any time, from the post itself.
What keeps this worth reading
This community holds neighbors from every corner of Nassau and Suffolk, and plenty of strong opinions. These are the four rules that keep it a good room.
- Be kind, especially when you disagree. Argue with the idea, never with the person holding it.
- Speak from your own experience. "This helped me" lands. "You should" does not.
- No medical claims, no diagnosing strangers. Never tell someone to stop or delay professional care. Same rule we hold ourselves to on the page.
- No selling. Mention your business if it is genuinely relevant, then move on. Promotion belongs in advertising.
