Signing in & comments
How does signing in work?
There are no passwords here. Enter your email on the sign-in page and we send you a one-time code; type it in and you are in. Every code works once, so there is nothing to remember and nothing to reset.
I never received my sign-in code
The code arrives within a minute or two from [email protected]. Check your spam or promotions folder first, and add that address to your contacts. If it still has not arrived after five minutes, request a new one. The old code stops working as soon as a new one is sent.
My code says it has expired
Codes and one-click links last fifteen minutes and can only be used once, which is what keeps your account yours. Request a fresh one and use it straight away.
Do I need an account to read Long Island Wave?
No. Every article and listing on this site is free to read with no account. An account only adds the community side: commenting on articles and taking part in conversations.
How do comments work?
Sign in with your email and a one-time code, then join the conversation at the foot of any article. We moderate by hand, so keep it civil and keep it local; comments that cross the line are removed.
How do I change my name or photo?
Sign in, then open your account from the top right of any page. You can change your display name, your photo, and delete your account there.
The Weekly Wave
How do I subscribe to The Weekly Wave?
Enter your email on the subscribe page or in the signup band at the foot of the homepage. It is free, and one email arrives every Friday with the week's best of Long Island.
I subscribed but the newsletter is not arriving
Check your spam and promotions folders first, and add us to your contacts so Friday's email lands where you can see it. If it is still missing, send us your address using the form below and we will find out what happened.
How do I unsubscribe?
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. If you cannot find it, send us your address using the form below and we will remove it for you.
How often will you email me?
Once a week, on Friday. That is the whole schedule: no daily blasts and no surprise promotions.
Listings & events
How do I get listed in Resources or the Marketplace?
Listings are part of our advertising program. The advertise page covers what is included and how reporting works, and we will send the current options on request.
My listing has the wrong details
Tell us what it should say using the form below, the exact listing name and the corrected line, and we will fix it. Corrections are free and we make them quickly.
Can I submit an event to the calendar?
Calendar listings run through our advertising program, which is what keeps the calendar useful rather than noisy. Not sure where your event fits? Contact us with the details and we will point you the right way.
The website
A page or image will not load
Try a hard refresh first, which clears the copy your browser has cached. If it persists, tell us the page address and what you saw, and which browser and device you were using. That is usually enough for us to find it straight away.
I spotted an error in an article
Tell us. Send the article address and what needs correcting using the form below, or email [email protected]. We review every report and correct the article promptly.
Can I republish a Long Island Wave article?
Articles belong to their authors and to Long Island Wave. Ask us first and we will usually say yes for non-commercial use with credit and a link back.
How do I report a comment?
Send us the article and roughly what was said. We moderate the community by hand and we take it seriously.
Who is behind Long Island Wave?
Long Island Wave is an owned media property of Wave Agency, a digital agency based in Melville, NY. The site is written, edited and run for Long Islanders, covering Nassau and Suffolk.

- Straight away
It reaches us
Your request lands on our editorial desk the moment you send it. Nothing is auto-closed and nothing is auto-answered.
- Within a day
Someone replies
We answer from a real address, so you can just reply and keep the thread going.
- Until it's done
We stay on it
If it needs a fix on our side, we will tell you when it is fixed rather than leaving you to check.
Not a support question? The contact page reaches the same desk for everything else.
