Long Island Wave has a sister publication. Gold Coast Wave launched this month for South Florida, covering Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties from Jupiter to Homestead, and it works the way this site does: free to read, local first, and built around what is opening, what is happening and where to spend the weekend.

The same Wave, a different coast

Gold Coast Wave covers Business, Food & Drink, Health, Beauty, Lifestyle and Events, with a community events calendar, a local business directory and its own edition of The Weekly Wave, the newsletter that goes out every Friday. There is no paywall; like Long Island Wave, it is supported by local advertisers.

Both publications come from Wave Agency. Long Island Wave is published from the agency's Melville office, and Gold Coast Wave from its office at Mizner Park in Boca Raton. If you have family in Florida, or you split the year between the two, you now have a Wave on both ends of I-95.

Free apps for iPhone and Android

Gold Coast Wave has its own free app, with the day's stories, the events calendar and saved articles, just like ours. Download it on the App Store or Google Play. The Long Island Wave app is on the App Store and Google Play too.

New on both: Your Weekend and your towns

Alongside the launch, both publications picked up new features that make the site yours. Your Weekend gathers every event on the calendar from Friday to Sunday and sorts it for the parts of the Island you will drive to, the towns you care about and what you are into, with family-friendly picks first if you want them. Save the events you like into a plan, then add the whole weekend to your calendar in one tap.

You can also follow your town. Every town page now has a Follow button, and the towns you follow lead your home page with their newest stories and put their events at the top of your weekend. Following and saving use a free Long Island Wave account, so your towns and your plan are there on the website and in the app. Both features are on the website now and arrive in the apps with their next update.

Readers' Choice: the best of Long Island, picked by you

Both publications are also introducing Readers' Choice, annual awards voted on by readers. Readers nominate their favorite local businesses, from the pizza counter to the day spa, then vote for one per category. There is no panel and no paid placement, and every finalist is checked by our team to confirm it is open and operating before it goes on the ballot. Nominations open soon; the awards page and The Weekly Wave will announce the dates.

Coming in early 2027: a print edition

Long Island Wave and Gold Coast Wave are both coming to print in early 2027. The print editions will carry the same local coverage you read here, in a format you can pick up around town. Businesses interested in being part of the first issues can reach our advertising team.

Where to find it

Visit goldcoastwave.com, download the Gold Coast Wave app, and pass it along to anyone you know in South Florida. Here on Long Island, nothing changes except that there is more to do with the site: plan your weekend, follow your town, and get The Weekly Wave every Friday.
