Visit the Adventure Park at Long Island for Firepit Fridays and More Great Activities 🌳
The Adventure Park at Long Island is one of several Adventure Park locations scattered throughout the United States. Having first opened at Wheatley Heights in 2014, The Adventure Park has found itself in the unique position of being the first of its kind on Long Island. Ziplining, obstacle courses and more await kids and families alike in this great destination packed with exhilarating heights and amazing memories to be made.
We spoke with Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Candie Fisher, about the Adventure Park’s new events, including the unique Firepit Fridays which adds a relaxing atmosphere for park visitors after a day spent out and about.
Firepit Fridays were launched in 2020 and were, according to Fisher, “so successful that we have carried it into 2021.” This is not the first special event held by the park. Glow in the Park was another addition to the usual activities offered by The Adventure Park, bringing music and LED light decorations to the park for a transformative new perspective to the grounds.
Firepit Fridays start at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m., featuring s’mores for sale and a relaxing communal fire pit just outside the main platform where trails begin. “It is a great place to relax after your climb, watch the action, and have fun with your family and friends,” said Fisher, who also mentioned that fire pits can be rented in private areas.
Tickets for Firepit Fridays include two hours of climbing, as well as a 30-minute safety briefing.
Asides from these great events, The Adventure Park hosts a variety of different programs. This includes their Find the Outdoors Program, started by the founder of the parks Bahman Azarm. The mission, which takes advantage of these parks’ outdoor locales, is to introduce kids to nature through free guided hikes.
While this program was recently implemented and caters to the Fairfield and Bridgeport Connecticut locations, “The intention is to expand the hikes to all of our park locations, including Long Island. We’re fundraising to make that happen,” said Fisher. For those interested in this program and would like to see it on Long Island, visit the link to their donation page here.
Recently, the park had some significant undertakings finished. This includes three new trails implemented this season, which were described by Fisher as adding to the guests’ overall experiences. Promotional events, like Wonderful Wednesdays, allow guests to get $10 off General Admission Tickets when purchased in advance. “It's big savings, and a great way to get some adventure in midweek,” Fisher stated.
Also mentioned was a lesser-known aspect of the park. The Adventure Playground is perfect for young children, ages 3 to 6, who cannot take advantage of the more advanced courses throughout the park.
Fisher also stated that The Adventure Park has been seeing an influx of birthday parties being held by the park. “Partly because of the impact of COVID, as people looked for outdoor alternatives, and partly because it is a really fun way to celebrate.” Popular birthday packages are offered at The Adventure Park which includes climbing, zip-lining, and private picnic spots.
