Wonder, the multi-brand food hall company that runs roughly thirty restaurant concepts out of a single kitchen, now lists sixteen Long Island addresses on its own locations page. Thirteen are open. Three are not yet.
That is a larger footprint than most Long Island restaurant groups have after thirty years, and most of it arrived quietly.
Open now
Bellmore. Commack. Deer Park. East Meadow. Great Neck. Holbrook. Huntington. Melville. Oceanside. Plainview. Port Jefferson Station. Port Washington. Westbury.
The Great Neck location, at 48 Great Neck Road in Great Neck Plaza, is the newest of the open set. Port Washington is at 6 Soundview Market Place. Both run from 10:30 in the morning to 11:30 at night, seven days a week, which is a longer service day than nearly any independent restaurant near them keeps.
Coming
Massapequa Park, at 1004 Park Boulevard, is listed for September 2026. Lindenhurst is listed for January and Glen Cove for February.
Look at where those are. Not a mall food court among them. Great Neck Plaza, Park Boulevard in Massapequa Park, downtown Lindenhurst, Glen Cove. These are village and hamlet storefronts, the same retail bays a local operator would be looking at.
What is actually inside
The menu at the Great Neck location lists twenty-nine concepts. Bobby Flay Steak. Yasas and Chios Taverna, both by Michael Symon. Streetbird by Marcus Samuelsson. The Mainstay by Marc Murphy. Walnut Lane by Jonathan Waxman. Alongside the chef-branded lines are licensed New York institutions: Di Fara Pizza, Ess-a-Bagel, SriPraPhai, Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, Maydan, Fred Meat and Bread.
The operating trick is timing. Everything is cooked in one kitchen, and the company coordinates preparation so that dishes with very different cook times come up together. You can order Thai, a Detroit-style square and a poke bowl in one transaction and have them arrive at the same moment, which is a thing no group of four separate takeout orders has ever managed. Dine in, pick up, or take delivery, which the company does itself rather than through a third-party app.
Wonder also owns Blue Apron, which it lists in its own site footer. This is a company assembling a full stack of how food gets to a house.
Why this is a different kind of competitor
A new pizzeria opening on your block is a competitor. Wonder is a category problem, and it is worth being precise about why.
An independent restaurant on a Long Island main street carries one lease, one kitchen, one staff and one menu, and it has to be good enough at that one menu to win the whole household. Wonder carries one lease, one kitchen and one staff, and puts thirty menus against that same household. The family that cannot agree, which is most families on a Tuesday, is the exact customer the independent loses first and the multi-brand kitchen was designed to capture.
The licensed names sharpen it further. Di Fara and Ess-a-Bagel were, until recently, the sort of reputation a Long Island operator was structurally safe from, because they were in Brooklyn and Manhattan and staying there. They are now in Commack.
The other side of it
There is a real case on the other side, and this publication has been reporting the conditions that make it.
Long Island retail vacancy is a live problem, and a tenant that signs a long lease, fits out a full commercial kitchen and staffs a fifteen-hour service day is filling space that has been sitting. These are jobs, and the hours are the hours restaurant workers actually want. Downtown foot traffic is foot traffic regardless of who generates it, and a busy storefront at nine at night helps the block it sits on.
What it does not do is what an independent restaurant does, which is put a family with a name on a village street and keep the money there. Sixteen addresses is a lot of Long Island retail frontage to have quietly changed hands in the direction of one balance sheet.
Practically
If you have not used one: order at the counter, on the app or on the website, from as many of the concepts as you want in a single order. Delivery is free. Hours at the locations we checked run 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily. Menu availability varies by location, so the concept list at your nearest address is the one to check rather than the company-wide list.
