The old Me'Lore corner in Oceanside has a date on it now. Taty's Tacos & Margaritas, the restaurant taking over 3303B Long Beach Road, announced this week on its own Instagram that it opens September 16, eleven days from now, and it is hiring its opening crew as you read this.

When this publication first wrote about Taty's in mid-August, the name was nearly all there was: a liquor license application, a temporary permit, and a dark storefront on Oceanside's busiest commercial road. Three weeks later the picture has filled in fast, and in exactly the order a restaurant opening is supposed to go.

The date, and the jobs that come with it

The announcement came as a hiring flyer posted to the restaurant's new Instagram account. Taty's is looking for cooks, waiters, bartenders and dishwashers, with resumes going to the restaurant by email, and the pitch to applicants leans on the one thing a brand-new restaurant can genuinely offer that an established one cannot: everyone hired now is there from day one, with room to grow as the place does.

For anyone in Oceanside, Island Park or Rockville Centre looking for restaurant work this fall, the window is open right now, and it is a short one. A restaurant that opens on the 16th will want its kitchen staffed and trained the week before.

How the paperwork got here

The public record behind the date is already in order, which is worth spelling out because it is the part a flyer cannot show you. Taty's LLC filed for a full on-premises restaurant liquor license on July 15. On August 18 the State Liquor Authority issued the company a temporary retail permit, effective immediately and running to February 14, 2027. That permit is the bridge that lets a finished restaurant open its doors and pour legally while the full license review grinds on, and as of this week it is still the active credential at the address, with the full license application working behind it.

In August this publication read that temporary permit as the strongest signal in the file, on the logic that nobody pays for the right to pour drinks in a space they are not nearly ready to use, and guessed the margaritas would be flowing by the holidays. The actual answer beats that guess by three months.

The corner it inherits

Long Beach Road is Oceanside's main street in everything but name, and 3303B has been a restaurant address for years. Its most recent tenant was Me'Lore, a small chef-owned spot with a seasonal menu, which closed and surrendered its liquor license with a year still left on it. The handoff since then has been unusually clean: the old license went dark, the new application arrived within weeks, the temporary permit followed in August, and now there is a name, a concept, a hiring push and a date.

That speed matters in a hamlet where an empty restaurant space on the main drag gets noticed on every drive past. Oceanside has watched the corner turn over before. What it has not had is a dedicated tacos-and-margaritas house on Long Beach Road, and come the 16th it will.

What is still to come

The menu has not been posted yet, and the owners have not introduced themselves publicly, which for a restaurant eleven days out is not unusual. The Instagram account is new and, so far, all business: the flyer, the address, the date. The remaining reveals, what is on the menu, what a margarita costs, who Taty is, now have a deadline attached, because all of them get answered the day the doors open.
