The Smithtown Children's Foundation is bringing its Community Table Grand Tasting back to Watermill Caterers in Smithtown on Tuesday, November 17 at 6 p.m., gathering local restaurants, wineries, brewers and bakers into one room for an evening that funds the foundation's work with families in crisis.

The annual tasting is the foundation's signature food event, and the 2026 edition fills the room with Smithtown-area kitchens.

What is on the tables

Participating restaurants announced for this year include Pace's Steak House, Popei's Clam Bar, Hirosaki, Husk and Vine Kitchen and Cocktails, Maria's Mexican and Latin Cuisine, O Sole Mio, Saffire Indian, Schnitzels, MeMa's Little Italian Kitchen, Azulejos Mexican Restaurant, Big Belly Que, Elegant Eating Caterers, Enology Wine Bar and Bistro, Grafton Street Pub, Legends Bar and Grill, Level Up Kitchen, Taste Bud Kitchen and Philly Pretzel Factory, among others.

The pour list runs from Pindar, Duck Walk and Jason's wines to Sand City beer and spirits from Spy Trail Distillery and the Cipher Room. On the sweeter end: Brooklyn's Best Baking Company Cafe, Dolce Bella, Mickey's Ice Cream and Simple Party Designs.

Tickets include the full tasting and open bar, with live music, blackjack and raffles running through the evening.

Honoring 50 years of the Industry Advisory Board

This year the foundation presents its Inspirational Community Leaders Award to the Smithtown Industry Advisory Board on the board's 50th anniversary. The SIAB pairs school district staff and students with local businesses, arranging internships, mentorships, speaking engagements and state competitions for business students, work that has drawn statewide recognition. The evening also includes the foundation's Caring Community Award and Unsung Hero honors for local residents.

Where the money goes

The foundation was established in 2008, after neighbors organized to support a local kindergartner diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, and grew from that single effort into a standing nonprofit. It provides financial and emotional support to families in the Smithtown and Hauppauge school districts facing illness, loss or sudden hardship, covering needs that range from medical and household bills to groceries, clothing and school supplies.

The Community Table name describes the model: local kitchens fill the tables, neighbors buy the tickets, and the proceeds stay inside the two school districts the foundation serves.
