East Meadow is now on the Shake Shack map. The chain's newest Long Island restaurant is open at 1902 Hempstead Turnpike, with posted hours of 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The restaurant serves the chain's full lineup, the ShackBurger on its custom Angus blend, whole white meat chicken sandwiches, crinkle cut fries, flat-top hot dogs, shakes and frozen custard, with pickup and delivery ordering through the company's site and app alongside the counter.

From a park cart to Hempstead Turnpike

Shake Shack began as a hot dog cart in Manhattan's Madison Square Park, set up to support the park conservancy's first art installation, and the cart's three summers of lines turned into a kiosk, then a chain that now spans the country. The East Meadow restaurant extends a Long Island footprint that already includes locations in Westbury and New Hyde Park along the same central Nassau corridor.

East Meadow's chamber of commerce has already added the restaurant to its member directory, slotting the newcomer into a business corridor anchored by the Meadowbrook Parkway interchange and Eisenhower Park a mile north.
