The Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce wraps up its 2026 Port Jefferson Harvest Festival on Sunday, October 18, with a second afternoon of hay rides, a pumpkin patch, live music and a pie baking contest spread across the village from noon to 5 p.m. A Chowder Crawl follows next Saturday, trick or treating comes on Halloween, and a scarecrow display and window art walk stay up into November.
What is on Sunday
Most of the action runs along Mill Creek Road, where local businesses and food vendors set up from noon to 5 p.m. The Sunday lineup includes Kookies by Krista, Playtime Slime and Sweet Spin Treats, along with activity tables offering face painting, a flower bar, a charm bar, a golf simulator and the Teddy Bear Mobile.
The band Town and Country plays from noon to 4 p.m. in the Chase parking lot at 120 Main Street. Costumed harvest walkers, including a Pumpkin King and a Reaper, roam the village from 1 to 4 p.m. Roasted corn is sold in the Frigate parking lot, and a harvest photo display sits at 106 Main Street, next to Castaways Steak and Seafood.
The pie baking contest closes out the day. Bakers bring a pumpkin or apple pie to a designated table on Arden Place near Main Street, and prizes are handed out at 3:30 p.m. The entry fee is $5, and the chamber takes sign ups on its website.
Hay rides, pumpkins and the activity pass
Four activities are bundled into a $15 per person activity pass, good for one day of the festival.
Tractor hay rides leave from Harborview Christian Church at 315 East Main Street from 1 to 5 p.m. The pumpkin patch is set up at the Park at 114 at the Port Jefferson Free Library from 1 to 5 p.m., where each visitor picks one small pumpkin. An inflatable corn maze fills the Tommy's Place parking lot, and inflatable axe throwing is on Mill Creek Road, both from noon to 4 p.m.
The pass covers unlimited hay rides, maze and axe throwing, plus one pumpkin. Families can buy three passes and get a fourth free. Anyone who wants just one activity can pay $5 for a single entry. Passes and single tickets are sold at the information table on Mill Creek Road (cash or credit), and wristbands bought online are picked up at the same table.
Shows and classes
For young children, the Performing Arts Studio of New York at 224 East Main Street stages Hugh Stinkfoot and the Spooky Terrible Day!, an interactive puppet show with songs and bubbles aimed at preschoolers, at 2:30 p.m. Costumes are welcome. Tickets are $5 for ages 12 and under and $10 for ages 13 and up, sold through the chamber's site.
Several shops run paid sessions on Sunday. Muse Paintbar at 134 Main Street holds a Calm Reflections paint class from noon to 2 p.m. ($42) and an Eerie Embers class from 3 to 5 p.m. ($47). Willow and Harlow at 208 East Main Street offers a candle making session at 12:45 p.m. for $50, with sign ups at willowharlow.com.
Scarecrows and window art through early November
Two self guided walks continue after the festival packs up. The Scarecrow Walk lines East Main Street through November 2, with 18 entries from local businesses and groups. Among them are a Teen Wolf scarecrow from the Port Jefferson Free Library Teen Center, a spaghetti and meatballs scarecrow from Pasta Pasta, a fishing scarecrow from Port Tackle and a Dolly Parton scarecrow from Tiger Lily. Visitors can cast a vote on the chamber's Scarecrow Walk page.
The Fall Art Walk places work by local artists in business windows on East Main Street and Main Street. It runs through November 6 and can be seen any time.
Chowder Crawl on October 24
Next Saturday, October 24, the chamber holds its Port Jefferson Chowder Crawl from noon to 3 p.m. Ticket holders sample chowder at 13 participating spots: Barito Tacos and Cocktails, Castaways Steak and Seafood, Curry Club at SaGhar, Dark Horse Coffee and Kitchen, Ditch, La Cova, Pasta Pasta, PJ Lobster House, Nantuckets, The Canopy Club, The Steam Room, The Whiskey Barrel and Tommy's Place. The chamber plans a public vote on the chowders, and tickets are sold through the event page on its website.
Trick or treat on Halloween
On Saturday, October 31, the chamber lists Trick or Treat in Port Jefferson Village from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Theatre Three at 412 Main Street opens its 42nd annual production of A Christmas Carol, adapted by Jeffrey Sanzel, on November 7. It runs through December 27.
