New York Sports Club is coming back to Huntington village. The gym chain is reopening at 16 New Street, the same address where it once operated, and has set a grand opening for Saturday, November 7, from noon to 2 p.m.

On the club's own page, the company frames the move in two words: we're back. The announcement is addressed directly to Huntington, and the sign-up list for presale rates is already open.

What the new club is

The returning NYSC is built around strength and conditioning rather than rows of cardio machines. The club lists expansive functional turf areas for training with sleds and free movement, a sauna, locker rooms with showers and overnight lockers, personal training, grab-and-go coolers and free parking.

The headline feature is HYROX. Huntington will operate as an official HYROX training facility, one of a limited number of NYSC locations offering it. HYROX is a global fitness race format that pairs running with stations of functional work, and the club's classes train for it with sleds, rowers, sandbags and ski ergs. The classes are included with membership, and the club says they are built both for people training toward an actual race and for people who just want the workout.

Opening day, and what comes before it

The grand opening on Saturday, November 7 runs from 12 to 2 p.m. with a DJ, tours of the club, raffles, giveaways and membership offers for people who come in that day.

Before then, the club is selling founder's rates for a limited time, and anyone who joins its mailing list is entered to win a free year of membership. The list also carries first word on presale pricing and promotions. Terms apply to the drawing, and the details are on the club's Huntington page.

The club is hiring as well. NYSC says open roles for the Huntington location will post on its careers page as the opening approaches.

A return, not just an arrival

For Huntington, this is a name coming back rather than a newcomer. NYSC previously ran a club at the same New Street address in the heart of the village, a short walk from Main Street, and its return puts a full-service gym back into the village's walkable downtown. The company operates clubs across the New York area, including Long Island, New York City, New Jersey, Westchester and Boston under its regional brands.

The fitness picture in town has been filling out this fall across the wider area, from boutique training studios to new racquet clubs, and a national-brand gym returning to a downtown storefront adds a different option: one membership, one building, most of a training week under one roof.
