Montauk's off-season calendar fills up in the two weekends around Thanksgiving. It starts with a free Holiday Bazaar at the Montauk Playhouse Cultural Center on Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22, and runs through a library fair and a visit from Santa at Montauk Point the following weekend.

November 21 and 22: Holiday Bazaar at the Playhouse

The Montauk Playhouse, the community center in the restored historic building at 240 Edgemere Street, holds its bazaar from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. Admission is free. Shoppers will find gifts from local makers, and the Playhouse is using the weekend to show residents what its Cultural Center offers. The building also houses the hamlet's aquatic center, and its programming runs from arts classes to performances to wellness sessions such as its Pilates classes.

Makers who want a table can still ask: the Playhouse takes vendor inquiries at [email protected].

November 28: the Friends of the Montauk Library Holiday Fair

On Saturday, November 28, the Friends of the Montauk Library hold their annual holiday fair at the library, 871 Montauk Highway, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tables carry donated books, handmade pieces from the Nauti Knitters, costume jewelry, mugs, totes and hats, and there is a mini raffle.

November 29: Santa at the Lighthouse

The next day, Sunday, November 29, Santa Claus is at the Montauk Point Lighthouse, 2000 Montauk Highway, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families can take a picture with him. Hot chocolate is donated by Hampton Coffee and cookies by the Montauk Bake Shoppe. The visit is free, and donations are accepted. The listing points visitors to the Montauk Historical Society for details.

More on the library calendar

The Montauk Library has a run of free programs before the fair. Its Classic Film Series shows Gilda on Friday, November 13, and The Big Sleep on Friday, November 20, and a Songs from the Movies program is set for Sunday, November 15.
