The childcare center at 620 Route 25A in Mount Sinai is open again under a new name. Magical Beginnings Learning Center held its ribbon cutting on Friday, October 17, marking the reopening of the space that previously operated as Paper Planes Early Learning Center.

Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Jane Bonner joined local families, business leaders and residents for the ceremony and presented the owners with a certificate of congratulations, according to the town's announcement. Holly Bottiglieri, president of the Mount Sinai-Miller Place Chamber of Commerce, attended along with parents and children from the area.

A multi-state operator takes over a familiar address

The Mount Sinai center now operates under the Magical Beginnings umbrella, a group that runs childcare centers in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The company describes its approach as play-based early learning, with programs that run from infant care through preschool and an emphasis on hands-on experiences, ongoing teacher training and day-to-day communication with families.

For Mount Sinai parents, the practical fact is continuity: the Route 25A address that families have used for childcare keeps serving that purpose, with new leadership and a new sign out front. Bonner said at the ceremony that the center is continuing a long tradition of childcare for Mount Sinai families and that the town looks forward to its impact on the community, per the town's release.

Childcare on the North Shore's commuter corridor

Route 25A is the spine of the Mount Sinai, Miller Place and Sound Beach communities, and a group childcare center on the corridor serves families commuting west toward Port Jefferson, Stony Brook and beyond. A closing in this category typically sends dozens of families looking for care at once. This reopening kept a working childcare address in service.

The new operator is staffing up locally as well. Magical Beginnings' careers page lists openings at its Mount Sinai location, including preschool teaching roles, alongside positions at its New England centers.
