Fall is opening season on Long Island. Summer leases turn into finished buildouts, liquor licenses come back from Albany, and the storefronts that spent August papered over start posting hiring flyers. This publication has been tracking a wave of them through their own filings and announcements, and enough of them now have dates, or something very close to one, that a reader can start planning around them. Here is where each one actually stands, based on the paperwork and the businesses' own words rather than rumor.

Taty's Tacos and Margaritas, Oceanside: September 16

The firmest date of the season belongs to the old Me'Lore corner at 3303B Long Beach Road. Taty's Tacos and Margaritas announced on its own Instagram that it opens September 16, and it is still hiring cooks, waiters, bartenders and dishwashers for the opening crew as of this weekend. Nine days out, this one is as close to certain as a restaurant opening gets: the license is issued, the date is public, and the staff is being assembled in the open.

Hacienda Tulum, Long Beach: this month

The six oceanfront acres Long Beach calls the Superblock sat empty for forty years, and the development that finally filled them gets its biggest tenant this month. Hacienda Tulum, the Mexican steakhouse from the operators behind Tulum Taco and Tequila in Baldwin and Mineola, is in its final days before a September grand opening on the boardwalk, where its liquor license has been in hand since July 8 and a sister taco stand is already serving. When it opens, a lot that outlasted every plan since the 1980s will be fully in business.

Fine Fare, Bellport: the shelves are close

Bellport Village has been waiting for a supermarket since Cirillo's Market closed in June 2023, and the signals now point to weeks rather than months. The store going into 115 South Country Road is hiring its deli and dairy managers through its own Facebook page, and on September 4 the entity behind the market filed for its grocery beer license with the State Liquor Authority. That is the filing a market makes when the shelves are nearly real. No date has been announced, but a walkable village is about to get its full grocery run back.

Foleys, Massapequa Park: the sign is up

At the corner of Park Boulevard that held Woody's Village Saloon, the Foleys sign is already mounted, with a martini glass standing in for the Y. The Smithtown bar's second location at 1015 Park Boulevard cleared its last big piece of paperwork when the State Liquor Authority issued its restaurant license on September 3, and the company's job board is recruiting bartenders, servers and kitchen staff. The website still says coming soon, but a bar does not hire a floor staff to sit dark. Expect this one before the holidays.

TruGolf Links, Farmingdale: fall, per the company

The former Suffolk OTB storefront at 1741 Broadhollow Road on Route 110 is becoming a 6,120-square-foot indoor golf lounge with five simulators, a restaurant and a cocktail bar. TruGolf has said the Farmingdale flagship is scheduled to open in fall 2026, and its liquor license application landed with the state in mid-August, which is exactly when an operator files if it intends to pour drinks before winter. The betting windows are long gone; the twenty-foot screens are next.

Uncle Giuseppe's, Levittown: hiring for 2026

The former King Kullen at 3284 Hempstead Turnpike has its next tenant, and it is the one Long Island grocery name that seems to only expand. Uncle Giuseppe's own store page lists the Levittown location as opening in 2026 and says hiring for the opening team is underway. No month yet, but the chain just ran this play in Greenvale, where its announced date arrived only two weeks before the doors opened in August. When a date lands, this corner, which spent decades under the name of America's first supermarket chain, will be one of the bigger grocery stories of the year.

And the one with a circled date

The biggest single opening date of the fall belongs to Holbrook, where Ross Dress for Less has set Saturday, October 10 for its grand opening at the Shops at SunVet, the rebuilt Sun Vet Mall corner. That story, and the ten coming-soon tenants behind it, is covered separately today.
