The Long Island Children's Museum in Garden City is opening its holiday season after hours. Jolly Jamboree, an evening event on Saturday, November 28, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., fills the museum with holiday music, crafts, a cookie decorating table and visits from Santa, two days after Thanksgiving.
What kids make
The museum has built the night around five crafts, and every guest can make all five to take home:
- Celebrate and Create Plate: decorate a keepsake plate.
- Cookie Decoration Station: top a cookie with frosting and toppings.
- Snowflake Hats.
- Festive Gingerbread Friend: decorate a gingerbread figure.
- Season of Giving Gift Bag: decorate a winter-themed gift bag.
Between stations there is seasonal music, and Santa and other holiday characters make surprise appearances through the evening.
Tickets
Tickets are $14 for museum members and $16 for non-members, and the price is the same for adults and children. Members need to sign in to their account before adding tickets to the cart for the discount to apply; the museum asks anyone who does not see the member price to email [email protected]. Tickets bought online are non-refundable.
This weekend: Snowflake Sock Skating
Families who cannot wait until the 28th have a winter program this weekend. Snowflake Sock Skating opens on Saturday, November 7, from noon to 2 p.m., and Sunday, November 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. It is a drop-in program for ages 2 and up with two short activities, each about ten minutes: Let's Skate, in which kids make a winter scene with a skater that moves, and Snow Ball Popper, in which they build a pom-pom-tossing snow friend to take home. Both are included with regular museum admission.
Hours
The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on Mondays. Jolly Jamboree runs after the museum's usual Saturday closing time, so it is a separate ticket from daytime admission.
Going
Jolly Jamboree is Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Long Island Children's Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City. Buy tickets on the museum's event page at licm.org, or call (516) 224-5800 with questions.
