On Jericho Turnpike in East Northport, near Dix Hills, Commack, Melville and Huntington, Little Luxe Playhaus combines Montessori-inspired play zones with a café and a children's boutique, along with caregiver-and-child classes and private birthday parties.

Founded by an early childhood educator

Little Luxe was founded by Danielle Ferrante, a local mom of two with a background rooted in early childhood development and an M.S. in Special Education. She describes the play café as “a place where families can slow down, connect, and enjoy meaningful moments together.”

A Montessori-inspired play space

The space was designed with insights from early educators and child development experts to blend Montessori principles with play-based learning. It features a curated selection of open-ended toys and themed play zones, including a market, a vet clinic, a builder's station and a discovery nook. The play floor is divided into age-appropriate areas: a soft play area for infants and crawlers, pretend play zones, mini climbers for toddlers, and big slides, trampolines and a ball pit.

Open play

Open play sessions are offered several times a day, generally in morning, midday and afternoon slots scheduled around private events, with single sessions and monthly memberships available. Current times are posted on the open play page.

The play area is socks only for children and adults, with grip socks available for purchase. Every child needs a signed waiver, which can be completed online ahead of time or at the front desk. Caregivers supervise their children, and café seating sits within eyesight of the play areas. Capacity is limited, so reserving online or by phone is recommended; walk-ins are welcome when space permits.

Classes for little ones and their grown-ups

Little Luxe offers Mommy-and-Me classes, with dads, grandparents and caregivers welcome too. Classes run in semesters of about eight weeks, usually in fall, winter, spring and summer, and a parent or caregiver takes part alongside the child.

  • Little Luxe Sensory Social (ages 12 to 24 months): hands-on sensory play and exploration, music, movement and early socialization
  • Little Luxe Play Studio (ages 2 to 4): creative play, sensory activities, music, movement and imaginative exploration

Each 45-minute guided class is followed by an hour of open play the same day. Schedules and enrollment are on the classes page.

The Boutique + Café

The café brews a locally roasted, organic coffee blend, with lattes, cappuccinos, cold brew, teas, iced drinks and kid-approved smoothies. The menu is allergy-aware and changes with the seasons, from grab-and-go snacks for little ones to avocado toast and rotating artisan flatbreads, including one topped with pear, goat cheese and arugula. Ingredients come from local farms and bakeries whenever possible. Highchairs are available, and the restroom has a changing station.

The boutique carries hand-picked, eco-friendly toys, books and play essentials rooted in Montessori-inspired values, plus accessories and seasonal gifts, with new finds from local Long Island artisans and “mompreneur” brands. Gift wrapping is available on site.

Birthday parties

Birthday parties include exclusive use of the play café and party suite, with a host team handling setup, service and cleanup. Three packages, Petite Luxe, Signature Luxe and Ultimate Luxe, cover up to 12, 15 or 18 children plus the birthday child. Each includes cupcakes, pizza, juice and water for every child, themed tableware, balloon decor, a digital invitation and favors, with the larger packages adding touches such as a balloon garland or feature wall, a custom cake and unlimited coffee or tea. Details are on the Celebrate page.

Community

Little Luxe hosts seasonal celebrations and pop-up classes, and describes itself as rooted in the Long Island community, partnering with local businesses, hosting family events and supporting seasonal charities.
