The corner storefront at 90 East Main Street in Patchogue has spent four years proving that salads and smoothies could hold their own on a bar-heavy block. As of September 1, it gets to compete on the block's own terms. The State Liquor Authority has issued a full on-premises liquor license to the restaurant now called Jardin Kitchen & Cocktails, and the license runs through April 2028.

The new name already gave the plan away. The spot that opened in 2022 as Jardin Cafe, built around salads, bowls and fresh juice, has been steadily growing into a full-menu restaurant, and the rebrand to Jardin Kitchen & Cocktails put the destination right in the title. The state paperwork catching up is the last piece: the license issued this week is held by Wepa Restaurant Inc., the same company that has run the restaurant since it opened, and it took effect September 1.

A corner with a health-food streak

The address has been Patchogue's wellness corner for the better part of a decade. Before Jardin, 90 East Main was NOLE Cafe, an organic juice bar that closed in 2020 after a two-year run. When Jardin arrived in 2022, it kept the healthy-eating DNA, juices and acai bowls included, while adding a real kitchen behind it.

The menu today reads New American with a Latin accent, which fits the company behind it. The operating corporation is named for wepa, the celebratory exclamation you shout when something goes exactly right. The kitchen is open seven days, and the name sets the mood the room is going for: Jardin is the French word for garden.

What the license record shows

State records add a wrinkle that makes this more than routine paperwork. Wepa Restaurant Inc. first held a liquor license at the address beginning in May 2022, in the restaurant's opening year. That license expired at the end of April 2024, and for more than two years afterward no active license appears on the books for 90 East Main Street.

The new license closes that gap. It was issued with an effective date of September 1, 2026, and carries an expiration of April 30, 2028, putting the restaurant back on the same spring renewal cycle it started on. In practical terms, the cocktail half of Jardin Kitchen & Cocktails now stands on its own full restaurant license rather than a name and a plan.

Happy hour on the east end of Main

The restaurant is not easing into it. Jardin's posted schedule includes a happy hour running Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., alongside a specialty cocktail list, and the room takes reservations for private events. Hours run 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, that early Sunday start being brunch doing its work.

Location matters here. Patchogue's Main Street is one of the busiest dining and nightlife strips in Suffolk County, and the east end of it has been filling in fast. A licensed kitchen with a garden room and a 4 p.m. happy hour slots into that stretch as the before-dinner option, the place you land when the theater crowd has the later reservation.

What it means for the village

Patchogue has never been short on bars. What the village keeps adding lately is range: a raw bar here, a garden-themed cocktail room there, each one giving Main Street another reason to be somebody's first stop rather than a pass-through. Jardin's license is a small state filing with a simple local meaning. The health-food corner grew up, kept its juice, and can now pour you something stronger to go with it.
