Downtown Glen Cove is getting a theater of its own. The Glen Cove Performing Arts Center, the new home of North Shore Village Theatre at 19 Glen Street, is set to open this winter, and the company has already put dates on the calendar: its seventh annual Holiday Variety Show on Saturday, December 12, 2026, followed by Steel Magnolias in March 2027 and Pinkalicious in June 2027.

For a troupe that has staged its recent seasons in borrowed rooms around the North Shore, the move gives it a permanent address on Glen Street, the same downtown street as City Hall. North Shore Village Theatre is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) community theater, and the new space will also be home to Jazz Hands Youth Theatre, a youth program connected to artistic director Christopher Moll.

What is on the schedule

The first public performance announced for the new venue is the Holiday Variety Show on December 12 at 7:30 p.m. at 19 Glen Street. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. An invitation only opening night gala is planned for Friday, December 11, with a 7 p.m. reception and an 8 p.m. show.

The variety show is open to outside talent. The theater says all types of performers are welcome, and anyone interested in taking part can reach the company at [email protected].

Next up is a production of Steel Magnolias, scheduled for March 19 to 27, 2027, at the Glen Cove Performing Arts Center. The theater has also posted Pinkalicious as coming in June 2027, and its website lists June 11 to 20, 2027, for that slot.

Who is behind it

The theater is led by artistic director Christopher Moll, a Las Vegas native with a B.F.A. in acting from the University of Montana who has performed in musicals around the country, worked as a choreographer, and appeared on the NBC daytime drama Passions. Moll also owns and directs Jazz Hands Children's Theatre.

Steven Dahlke serves as resident musical director. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Southern California and has taught music at Queensborough Community College since 2010, according to the theater's biography.

The company describes its mission as bringing education, entertainment and enrichment to all ages through the performing arts, and calls itself an all inclusive theatre company for North Shore residents. Its plans for the new building include family productions, acting and dance classes for all levels, summer camps, open mics and community showcases, and festivals and special events.

From borrowed stages to a home base

Until now, North Shore Village Theatre has performed in other venues. Its online season listing shows a production of Dracula from October 19 to November 4, 2023, and a Holiday Variety Show on December 9, 2023. Last year's holiday show, on December 13, 2025, was staged at North Country Reform Temple on Crescent Beach Road.

Some programming has already reached Glen Street. A two day adult scene study workshop with actress and writer Alexandra Vaccino ran September 19 and 20 in the studio at 21 Glen Street. Separately, Jazz Hands Youth Theatre began a Saturday program built around Dear Evan Hansen for ages 13 and up, meeting from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

How the build is being paid for

The theater is raising money from the community to finish the space. Its sponsor page lists giving levels from a $50 member tier up to a Founding Circle level of $50,000 and above, along with naming rights opportunities for parts of the building. Supporters named on the page range from local families to businesses such as Glen Cove Printery and Nassau County Country Club. Bruce and Roberta Waller, and Moll and Dahlke themselves, appear among the larger donors, and Jazz Hands Children's Theatre is listed as providing a bridge loan.

Donations are tax deductible, and the theater takes contributions through an online build campaign linked from its website. It notes that it is updating its donation program and asks anyone who wants to give to get in touch.

Renting the space

The Glen Cove Performing Arts Center will also be available for select rentals once it opens. The theater has said it is open to private gatherings, live music, dance performances, comedy and community events. Inquiries go to Christopher Moll at [email protected].
