ELIJA Farm, the ten-acre nonprofit farm on Foxhurst Road in South Huntington, holds its Fall Festival on Saturday, October 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission is $20, and every dollar raised goes back into the farm and the programs it runs.

The festival is the farm's big public day of the season. This year's edition lists a pumpkin patch, hayrides, a spooky walk, a bounce house, live music and wine among its featured attractions, each backed by a named sponsor, along with vendor tables from local nonprofits and businesses. Registration is open on the farm's events page, and tickets are also sold on the day.

A farm with a job to do

ELIJA Farm is not a typical farm stand operation. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, part of ELIJA, the Levittown-based organization that also runs The ELIJA School, and the farm exists to fund and host farm-based vocational training for differently-abled individuals, including adults with autism transitioning out of school programs.

The farm uses no chemical fertilizers or pesticides, and its produce is grown, hand-picked, washed and packed on site, then sold through its farmstand, a delivery service and a community supported agriculture program that runs summer and fall shares. Community classes, school visits and volunteer days fill out the calendar.

What to know before you go

The farm is at 43 Foxhurst Road in South Huntington, on the North Shore side of the Town of Huntington. Admission to the Fall Festival is $20 per person, with sponsorship tiers and vendor tables still listed on the event page for businesses and organizations that want a presence at the event.

For anyone who misses the festival, the farm's next seasonal offering follows a week later: its annual holiday pie pre-sale opens November 1.
