Most dental continuing education asks for a full Saturday. The Destination Forum in Hauppauge is trying something shorter. On Tuesday, November 17, its "Evening of Innovations" puts six speakers from six of the industry's best known companies in one room for two and a half hours, each giving a focused talk on the piece of the work they know best.
It runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Destination Forum, the teaching center on Dr. Lynn Pierri's Destination Dental campus at 400 Townline Road, and the organizers are asking for an RSVP by Saturday, November 7.
Six talks, one case from start to finish
Read in order, the lineup follows a single patient through modern implant dentistry, from the first scan to the final restoration:
- Diagnosis. Dale Kao of Planmeca, the Finnish imaging company, on "The 3D Advantage," how cone beam CT changes diagnostic precision.
- The site. Edward Reilly, a regenerative specialist with Geistlich, the Swiss biomaterials maker now in its 175th year, on "Designed for Regeneration: The Geistlich Legacy from Biology to Biomaterials."
- The implant. Brian Gitt of Nuventus introduces the Nuventus Dental Implant System, pitched as implants "that respect biology."
- The instruments. Martha Lobosco of Komet on the company's German manufacturing history and why the right bur matters.
- Keeping it clean. Carol Malangone of Hu-Friedy Group on sterilization, instrument management and implant maintenance through air polishing.
- The restoration. Roberto Rossi of Synergy Dental Ceramics on "From Chair-side to Lab-site: Let's Talk," the conversation between the clinician and the lab that decides how the final work looks and fits.
Why it is happening in Hauppauge
The Destination Forum is the education arm of a campus built to keep an entire treatment under one roof: general and cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery with its own ambulatory center, imaging, and an in-house lab. The Forum itself hosts hands-on courses, live surgeries and workshops for dental and medical professionals, including the Botox and dermal filler course it ran in August. An evening that walks through the same sequence the campus works through every day is a natural fit, and a weeknight format lets a working practice send more than one person.
The evening is aimed at dental professionals: dentists, hygienists, assistants and lab technicians will each find a talk built around their part of the job.
How to reserve a seat
