The Boulton Center for the Performing Arts has filled its November calendar, and the month on West Main Street reads like a classic rock record shelf: Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead all get a night, alongside a seventies songbook show and two benefit performances.

Eight shows are on the board at the Bay Shore theater between November 6 and Thanksgiving eve. Tickets for all of them are on sale through boultoncenter.org, with the listed prices including fees.

The tribute run

The month opens Friday, November 6 at 8 p.m. with Ramble On: The Led Zeppelin Musical Experience, at $55.

Two weekends later the songbook turns west coast. Falco & Book Play Jerry Garcia lands Friday, November 20 at 8 p.m. at $60, and Half Step, a Grateful Dead tribute, closes the month Wednesday, November 25 at 7 p.m. at $40, a show timed for the night before Thanksgiving, when Long Island's calendar fills with hometown reunions.

In between, The Joni Project: Celebrating the Music of Joni Mitchell takes the stage Saturday, November 14 at 8 p.m., with tickets from $45 to $50, and Rich Mahogany plays Friday, November 13 at 8 p.m. at $35.

Saturday, November 21 at 8 p.m. belongs to Story Songs of the 70s, a night built around the writing of Gordon Lightfoot, Cat Stevens and Harry Chapin, at $40. The Chapin catalog gives that one a local charge: the food bank Chapin founded in Hauppauge in 1980, Long Island Cares, still carries his name a few towns up the road from the Bay Shore stage his songs will be played on.

Two shows that give back

Two November bookings put their proceeds to work. On Saturday, November 7 at 8 p.m., comedian Joey Kola headlines a charity fundraiser for Islip Food For Hope, at $55. And on Sunday, November 15 at 2 p.m., the theater hosts a matinee called Rock Out Hunger, at $50, with details on the center's calendar.

Both land in the weeks when Long Island's food programs are assembling their holiday distributions, and both put a night out and a donation in the same ticket.

The room on West Main

The Boulton Center sits at 37 West Main Street in Bay Shore, in the middle of the village's Main Street restaurant row, which puts dinner within a block of every show on the list.

The full November schedule, seat maps and tickets are at boultoncenter.org, and the box office answers at 631-969-1101.
