The Babylon boys varsity soccer team has won the Suffolk County Class B championship for the seventh year in a row. The Panthers beat Southampton 2-1 on Friday afternoon, October 30, in the county final at Harborfields High School in Greenlawn.

No other team has won the Suffolk Class B boys title since this run began. Babylon went into the 2026 season with its team page reading six consecutive county championships; Friday made it seven.

How the final went

According to the team, senior captain Danny Murphy put Babylon ahead late in the first half, finishing a ball served in by Carter Palmieri. Brendan McCarthy added the second goal after a defensive mistake. Southampton scored once, and Babylon held on for the one-goal win.

The team marked the result on its Instagram account with a post that read, in short, seven in a row, adding that Suffolk County was orange again, the color the Panthers play in.

Seven straight, and two Long Island titles

The streak covers seven consecutive Suffolk Class B championships. Twice in that span, in 2021 and 2025, Babylon went on to win the Long Island Class B championship as well, which the program lists on its team page.

Class B is one of the enrollment brackets Section XI uses to group Suffolk high schools for playoffs, so Babylon's titles come against schools of similar size from across the county, from the South Shore out to the East End, which is where Friday's opponent came from.

What comes next

As county champion, Babylon moves on in the New York State public high school tournament. The team told followers to stay tuned for news of its next opponent.

Southampton's season continues too. Southampton's athletic department says the Mariners received the Section XI at-large bid for the state tournament and will play Section IV champion Chenango Forks on Wednesday, November 4, in Windsor, New York, in a Class B state subregional.
