Arooga's has been standing at 1 West Main Street in Patchogue for ten years, and on Friday, August 14 it is throwing itself a party about it. Doors open at 9 p.m., DJ Decoy and DJ Lique are on the decks until 2 a.m., and the bar has capped the guest list, so the RSVP is not decoration. Anyone planning to walk up at eleven and stroll in should plan differently.

Ten years is a long time on that corner

The number is the story. Downtown Patchogue has turned over hard in the last decade, and the stretch of Main Street around the Emporium has seen kitchens open, change hands and go dark in half that span. A place that opened in 2016 and is still there in 2026, in the same building, under the same name, has outlasted most of what opened alongside it. Restaurants do not usually get anniversaries. They get replaced.

What kept it there is not complicated, and it is visible in the weekly calendar rather than in anything the bar says about itself. Trivia runs every Tuesday from 7 to 10. Poker runs every Wednesday from 7 until 11:30. The dance party runs every Saturday from 9 until closing. That is three nights a week of a reason to come in that has nothing to do with the menu, in a downtown where the competition is a short walk in either direction. Ten years of that is a business that solved the Tuesday problem, which is the problem that closes most bars.

What to know before Friday

The party is a late one and it is not a dinner service with a cake. Doors at 9 p.m., music until 2 a.m., and the RSVP list is limited and running through the Posh app rather than the restaurant's phone. The room will be a dance floor, not a table for six.

For anyone who would rather have the corner on a quieter night, Saturday is UFC 330 on the screens, Makhachev against Machado Garry, with the same 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. window. And the ordinary weeknights carry on as they have: trivia Tuesday, poker Wednesday, the two things a decade of regulars actually turn up for.
