Film Screening: To God's Ear, with Director Q&A
Saturday, October 24, 2026, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. · The Avram Theater, Stony Brook Southampton, 39 Tuckahoe Road, Southampton
Filmed on the North Fork of Long Island, To God’s Ear is an independent film by veteran director and writer Stan Schofield about trauma, grief, resilience, and the healing power of connection. The film follows the unlikely friendship between two teenage girls who face trauma and loss as they learn to trust one another and find healing through their bond with a special horse. Their journey brings together two grieving families searching for hope and redemption as they explore the unique bond between humans and horses and the potential of equine therapy to support healing. Quiet, intimate, and beautifully filmed on location, To God’s Ear allows its story to unfold at a deliberate pace, reflecting the patience and trust at the heart of the relationship between a horse and a person experiencing loss. Director and writer Stan Schofield’s previous work includes Cost of Living, winner of the AFI Best First Feature Award, and Parting Words, winner of Best Picture and Best Director at the Long Island Film Festival. A Q&A with Director/Writer Stan Schofield will follow the screening.
