With the help of the Village of Patchogue and local restaurants, the Patchogue-Medford High School is hoping to provide a spaced-out prom along Main Street for the class of 2021.

Because of COVID-19 regulations, it is difficult to provide a prom for all 500 students in both indoor or outdoor settings. The proposal of a widespread prom along Main Street is being considered because of these restrictions. However, various issues arise with this idea, as it is an attempt to provide an exclusive event in a public setting.

Currently, the district and village are attempting to close off a section of Main Street for the outdoor prom, similarly to other events held in the past.

This would also require restaurants to close during the event to accommodate the students’ needs. The community would have to respect this private occasion and stay off of the streets and out of restaurants for a few hours.

If this event goes through, the date would be Monday, June 21, 2021. Viable rain dates include June 22 or 28, 2021. Graduation is planned for June 24, 2021.

All involved are committed to making this prom happen and provide these students with a memorable experience to leave high school with.
