5 North Shore Burger Joints Worth Visiting 🍔

Long Island has always had a great relationship with burgers.

There are a variety of restaurants, beach shacks, and dedicated burger joints throughout, all with unique takes on the classic patties. New experiences and delicious burgers await North Shore residents looking to try something new at these five restaurants full of charm.

Sid’s All American, Glen Cove

Sid’s All American in Glen Cove was founded in 2014 by Glen Cove native Ross McCalla. Sid’s brings to their patrons a diner-like feel, coupled with a delicious menu that includes popular ice creams and shakes, as well as, of course, burgers.

On the menu, expect to find a variety of American staples, including wings, various fries, and hot dogs garnished with different ingredients. Burgers at Sid’s are never-frozen, with options ranging from single to multiple-stacked patties. They even have the option for the plant-based Impossible Burger.

Gourmet Burger Bistro, Port Jefferson

Described by Gourmet Burger Bistro themselves as an affordable blend of bistro-dining and a more upscale experience, this burger bistro is popular across Long Island. Gourmet Burger Bistro was established in 2008, with an encompassing menu containing classics as well as more modern burger creations.

Their large gourmet burger menu includes the titular Bistro Burger which contains smoked bacon and caramelized onions, as well as other entrees and sides like mac and cheese. Another notable burger is their famous Triple Smoked Burger, containing their popular smoked chipotle sauce.

American Roadside Burgers, Smithtown

“When in doubt, order a burger,” says the website of American Burger Co, the team behind American Roadside Burgers in Smithtown, as well as the Charlotte, North Carolina-based American Burger Co.

Options at American Roadside Burgers include high-end proteins, like the Wagyu Truffle Burger and a Bison Chipotle Burger. These splendid tastes can be mixed with various buns and cheeses. Like many modern burger joints, American Roadside Burgers also offers vegan options like the Beyond Burger, as well as poultry burgers.

The Shed Restaurant, Huntington

The Shed Restaurant in Huntington is one of three Long Island locations for the brand. They are a sleek and modern yet comfortable restaurant, offering brunch, dinner, cocktails, and plenty of burgers.

Offered here on various menus, including for brunch, are their well-loved burgers. This includes their popular Shed Burger. This burger has an onion jam within it along with their signature shed sauce. The Shed Restaurant also makes their own in-house veggie burger utilizing a green-pea and potato patty.

Go Burger, Mount Sinai

Go Burger of Mount Sinai, as well as their Ridge, Long Island location, is a classic burger joint that is a treat for any Long Islander to visit. They opened in Mount Sinai in 2016, and have always had the mission of bringing quality burgers, cheesesteaks, and fries to their customers. However, these food items are not all that they offer. Popular dessert shakes and ice cream sandwiches are a perfect way to cap off any meal.

As for burgers, Go Burger’s menu is straightforward. Burgers can be made with a few different cheeses, add-ons like bacon, chili, or fried eggs, and there are also the usual toppings one can expect from a classic burger place.
