More Long Island Breweries to Visit This Summer 🍻

The summer season is a perfect time to explore the Long Island brewery scene. With more and more populating various towns and villages across the Island, it is clear that breweries and a love of local, hand-crafted beers will continue to grow.

Below are just a few of the breweries the Island has to offer.

Oyster Bay Brewing Company, Oyster Bay

Oyster Bay Brewing Company was established in 2012 and has since gone on to win multiple accolades for their craft beers. In 2019, Oyster Bay Brewing Co. was voted Long Island’s best craft brewery, and they continue to provide some of the best lineups of beer on the Island.

In their words “blending new and old-world techniques,” Oyster Bay Brewing Co. beers are varied and perfect for those new to craft beer as well as veterans who enjoy detailed drinking experiences. Their current lineup includes their popular Honey Ale, great for the summer.

Sand City Brewing Company, Northport

Sand City Brewing Company opened first in 2015, in Northport, with the local area's history in mind. Named for the sand mining operations that were rampant in the area, Sand City Brewing Company has gone on to amass a popular following for their inventive brews.

Their beers are numerous, including beers created through collaborations, home brews, and celebratory anniversary ales. Currently, Sand City has brought back a collaborative brew with a twist. The Beachfront Avenue Crush is a great summer beer packed with orange and tangerine.

Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, Greenport

Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, with another location in Peconic, is a great brewery located on Long Island’s North Fork. Found in the heart of the village of Greenport, the brewery is located within a self-renovated firehouse, turning the historic building into a comfortable and accessible gateway to the brews within.

Beer tastings are common at Greenport Harbor Brewery, and with a wide variety to choose from patrons are never strapped for choice. To usher in the summer, their seasonal Summer Ale is back, described as having been “moderately hopped in golden ale,” and with a hint of summery orange blossom honey.

Small Craft Brewing Company, Amityville

Small Craft Brewing Company opened up in Amityville in 2018. Its nautical theme and craft beers, many of which are made with New York-based ingredients, were a great local success. They have a tasting room, host private events, and have both indoor and outdoor seating served on a first-come basis.

For the summer, Small Craft Brewing Company announced the return of a summer favorite. The South South Apricot Blonde is on tap, another refreshing summertime beer that can also be picked up in the form of crowlers.

Po’Boy Brewery, Port Jefferson Station

Po’Boy Brewery is a family-owned and operated brewery that began out of a passion for home brewing. Known for hand-crafted microbrews and a rotating selection of craft beers and ciders, Po’Boy Brewery is a Long Island favorite.

Recently they introduced new beers on tap, including the unique Sour Patch, Don’t Funk Wit Me, described as an old-style sour ale. They will be having a Tailgate Party on July 3 to celebrate the 4th of July, hoping to celebrate with a “day of drinking and fun!”

Blue Point Brewery, Patchogue

Blue Point Brewery is a local mainstay, having first opened on the South Shore of LI in 1998. Blue Point Brewery quickly earned a reputation for their popular Toasted Lager and had even won two world Beer Cup gold medals. That flagship beer is still a part of their lineup today, along with a bevy of other options.

Along with plenty of events, from the Blue Point Brewery Cask Ale Festival to small concerts, there is of course their famous tasting room, where plenty of their year-round and seasonal brews can be tried. To usher in the summer, their seasonal Summer Ale is currently ready to quench the thirst for beer-lovers state-wide.
