However, the summer of 2020 saw fireworks at Jones Beach canceled due to the global pandemic. Now, with New York State able to open more and more public events, Governor Cuomo announced that the fourth of July fireworks at Jones Beach will make their return for 2021.

This event, partnered with the NY State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, aims to celebrate Independence Day with a firework spectacular. "Thanks to the hard work and dedication of New Yorkers in beating back the virus,” said Cuomo, “we are able to enjoy these summer traditions once again.”

This is the state’s 45th Independence Day celebration and takes place both at Jones Beach with its fireworks display, but also at Empire State Plaza where fireworks and a variety of events are also going on.

At Jones Beach, admission for the fireworks show is the same as standard admission to get into the park. Music will be simulcast by WALK 97.5 FM and KJOY-98.3, adding to the excitement of the fireworks. The show is set to begin at 9:30 p.m., but visitors are encouraged to come earlier to avoid long lines.

Those who want to enjoy the show are also permitted to walk on or travel by bike to Jones Beach State Park. This is especially beneficial for those nearby who may be overcome by the spike in traffic.

The Jones Beach 2021 Fireworks Spectacular will be a treat for those wanting to enjoy time with family and friends. As many as 100,000 visitors are expected, with the possibility of more throughout the day. The show begins at 9:30 p.m. and lasts for 30 minutes of uninterrupted fireworks.
