Long Island’s Favorite Amusement Parks for Kids
Many parents have fond childhood memories of their time spent at amusement parks.
Local family fun is easy to come by on Long Island, however, outings have been slim due to the pandemic. This is especially true due to family-favorite locations closing down in 2020. As vaccinations continue, and as more and more facilities receive the go-ahead to open up, we will be seeing plenty more opportunities to enjoy these great Long Island parks. Listed below are six favorites scattered throughout the Island.

1.Adventureland: Adventureland, located at 2245 Broadhollow Rd, Farmingdale, has been a major part of Long Island’s entertainment history. The park first opened in 1962 and comes complete with a multitude of rides and attractions that any family can enjoy.
The park commonly hosts field trips as well as day camps for schools across Long Island. In 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the park along with many other attractions was shut down. However, Adventure Land once again opened to the public on April 10, 2021. They have announced exciting events throughout the season with much more to come in the summer. COVID-19 regulations are carefully being followed.

2. The Adventure Park at Long Island: The Adventure Park is a prime destination for family ziplining, obstacle courses, and plenty more. The park is found at 75 Colonial Springs Rd. Gate #3 in Wheatley Heights. The Adventure Park opened in 2014, aiming to bring a fun, outdoor experience to kids, teens, and adults.
Among some of their most popular activities, ziplining is a kid-friendly favorite. There are also different options when it comes to their rope courses, with some being lower than others for those who would prefer to stay closer to the ground. Kids ages three and up can enjoy their Adventure Playground, while those ages 7 and up can enjoy their many treetop trails.

3. Wildplay at Jones Beach: Wildplay at Jones Beach can be found at the Jones Beach Boardwalk in Wantagh. It is tough to miss with its massive obstacle courses overlooking the shoreline from an exhilarating height. First opened in the summer of 2019. Hundreds of intrepid families have already braved their courses, with plenty more expected to arrive throughout spring and summer 2021.
The park has different courses for different ages and heights. Their kids course is specifically designed for children between the ages of 5 and 12, giving them a steady, fun challenge under the supervision of staff. Their beachside zipline is perfect for children and families to soak in the views from over 700 feet up, with side-by-side ziplining available for families and friends.

4. Bayville Adventure Park: 8 Bayville Ave. in Bayville, has been the site for Bayville Adventure Park since 2006. It is an amusement park that changes with the seasons, and while it is popularly known for its Bayville Scream Park attractions in the fall, the park offers much to fans throughout the year.
During the spring and summer seasons, Bayville Adventure Park is host to plenty of attractions that kids will love. With a minimum height requirement of 40 inches, the park’s Bumper Boat Safari attraction is a fun nautical adventure for kids and adults. The park also has a large arcade, rock-climbing, and its famous Pirate Adventure Mini-Golf Course.

5. Splish Splash Water Park: Splish Splash Waterpark can be found at 2549 Splish Splash Dr. in Calverton. The water park opened in 1991 and was a smash hit throughout Long Island. The park has expanded greatly since then, now encompassing over 20 attractions with plenty of daily events.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the park decided to temporarily close its doors in 2020. However, the park is gearing up for its reopening on May 29, 2021. Splish Splash has announced it will be returning with plenty of events for families. Their famous Lazy River will be getting a “fresh coat of paint” for opening day, and their most popular rides and attractions will be returning for everyone to enjoy.

6. Tiki Action Park: Centereach’s Tiki Action Park has made its home within the hamlet since 2009. The park is located at 1878 Middle Country Rd. in Centereach, and is home to one of the Island’s most popular mini-golf courses as well as their famous go-karting racetrack.
Tiki Action Park has plenty more to offer their patrons, particularly kids. This includes a massive arcade, voted Long Island’s best in 2019 according to their website. Their facilities also have a large laser maze, a new kid-friendly favorite, as well as a virtual reality setup. Tiki Action Park also hosts birthdays as well as large group events, including day camps.
