Getting your coffee fix is a fairly easy task on Long Island.
But with both local and chain coffee shops scattered across the island, it can be hard to decide which to go to. Check out the list below for just a few of the coffee spots the North Shore has to offer.
1.Local’s Cafe: Located in the heart of historic Village of Port Jefferson at 106 E Main St., Local’s Cafe aims to serve specialty coffee and food with a health-conscious frame of mind.
Its menu caters to all who wish to venture there, with options for those who are gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, or meat-eaters. Its drink menu highlights items like the classic lattes and matcha lattes, which can be made hot or iced, with the milk and flavor of your choice. It also features drip coffee, cold brew, and a turmeric and chai lattes. Food options include vegan pancakes, avocado toast, and The Classic sandwich which features bacon, egg and cheese, among many other options.

2. Southdown Coffee: Southdown Coffee provides coffee lovers with not one, but two North Shore locations to enjoy at 72 Main St. in the Village of Northport and 210-B Wall St. in Huntington, alongside its other two locations off of the North Shore.
Its menu provides a variety of options including its specialty drinks, such as the Flower Power Latte which features hibiscus, beet, and ginger-infused oat milk topped with espresso and lightly sweetened with maple syrup, and a Spicy Mocha latte. Classics include its espresso, matcha and chai lattes, iced or hot with your choice of milk and flavored syrup, cold brew, drip coffee, hot chocolate, and a variety of espresso drinks.
If you’re hungry, you can try Southdown’s Avo Pesto Grilled Cheese, Chickpea Sandwich, build-your-own egg sandwich, oatmeal, and breakfast burritos and tacos.

3. Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea: Although a chain coffee shop with locations across the country, Sweetwaters Cafe located at 200 W Main St. in Smithtown is a franchise location that is locally owned. It is one of two New York locations, and provides a unique experience with its drive thru and varied coffee and food items.
Its menu highlights a variety of drinks, both classic and specialty. You can expect to find traditional espresso drinks, like lattes and cappuccinos with your choice of milk and flavor, cold brew drinks made in a few different ways, and a variety of well-known teas such as Chamomile, English breakfast, Jasmine and Chai among many others.
More eclectic menu items include its French Vietnamese Au Lait which consists of chicory coffee and sweetened condensed milk, the Dragon Eye, which combines Sweetwaters’ House coffee and sweetened condensed milk as tribute to the Year of the Dragon, its varied shake menu, and its Ice Dragon menu, which hosts frozen beverages in flavors like matcha, mocha, caramel, and Strawberry Lemon Freeze.
For a bite to eat, you can expect menu items ranging from a selection of scones, to generous slices of a variety of different cakes, to breakfast sandwiches and everything in between.

4. North Fork Roasting Company: North Fork Roasting Co. calls the eastern end of Long Island home, with one location on each of the two forks. Its North Fork location is located at 55795 Main Road in Southold and prides itself in roasting its own coffee as much as it does the community it's settled in, calling it “the perfect setting for our venture.”
Its menu features a classic variety of drinks including cold brew, drip coffee, lattes and other espresso drinks, all with the milk and flavoring of your choice. Specialty items include its CBD latte, charcoal latte, lavender or charcoal lemonade, and chai and dirty chai lattes.
Its food items include things like the Vegan Wrap, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Sweet Potato & Duck Hash, and Brunch Breakfast Sandwich among much more.

5. Druthers Coffee: Located at 1113 North Country Road in Stony Brook on the North Shore, Druthers serves an eclectic mix of espresso drinks, tea, house-baked goods, and other food and drinks. The shop opened on August 14, 2020.
Although its menu holds some year-round staples, it also switches it up seasonally. Currently, the shop is serving spring items like its Lavender Latte, which combines espresso and your milk of choice with housemade lavender orange blossom syrup, and the well-known Vanilla Affogato, which pairs espresso with vanilla ice cream from Van Leeuwen. Its cold cocoas provide a new take on the classic hot cocoa, perfect for the warm weather with a pop of color to go along with it.
Its food and baked goods are equally as eclectic with items ranging from its Spring Frittata, which features asparagus, goat cheese and chives, the Druthers Egg Sandwich, and classic treats like its chocolate chip cookie and olive oil muffins.
