A mural commissioned by Discover Long Island, a Long Island-based information center that seeks to teach others about what LI has to offer, will be unveiled on May 4 as part of a gift to the city of Long Beach.
The mural in question will be a special attraction for the famed Long Beach boardwalk. The mural’s artist, Kara Hoblin, a native of Long Island, has worked with Discover Long Island before on creative murals that highlight the natural beauty of Long Island. She will be in attendance at the unveiling, along with Kristen Jarnigan, the president and CEO of Discover Long Island.
Called “The Long Beach Osprey Wings,” the mural aims to convey the beauty and importance of the various landmarks to be found on the North and South Shore. The mural takes the shape of osprey wings, reflecting Long Island’s thriving population of them.
This unveiling takes place during Small Business Week and National Tourism Week, a period where communities come together to bolster local businesses as well as to step out to enjoy the features of local areas. Long Beach officials implore the residents of Long Island to explore their downtown area as LI begins its many spring events.
The unveiling will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4 at the Long Beach Boardwalk. Local officials are readily welcoming residents and visitors from other towns to take in the new mural as well as bring business to the boardwalk and outlying areas. To find the site of the mural, visit One Riverside Boulevard and make your way up the boardwalk ramp.
