The launch event pertains to Bill Bleyer’s new book, “George Washington’s Long Island Spy Ring: A History and Tour Guide.”

As a historical building, Raynham Hall Museum has been a cherished part of Oyster Bay’s legacy. During the American Revolution, the Victorian house was home to Robert Townsend, a key member of George Washington’s famed Culper Ring. This spy network aided in the revolutionary cause and provided instrumental information for the Patriots.

Bull Bleyer’s new book, which will be out on May 10, aims to bring the Long Island-based spy ring into a new light. His lecture will attempt to separate myth from fact according to Raynham Hall Museum, and will also highlight how the Culper Ring’s operations helped to win independence for the United States.

The museum is currently closed to the public, though virtual tours for students are still open. The book launch in question will be held online on May 3 at 7 p.m., though tickets will be necessary to join. Learn more about the event, the museum, or grab your free tickets here.
