The City of Long Beach to Host an Abandoned Bicycle Auction

A bicycle auction will be held by the City of Long Beach Police Department on April 17, 2021.

With a catalog of over a hundred bikes, the auction aims to raise money for the city while making use of the many abandoned bikes that have been collected over the years.

The auction is open to the public and will be held in front of Long Beach City Hall. Emphasis is being placed on the bikes being sold as-is. The bikes can only be purchased with cash.

Before the auction, interested participants are able to inspect the bikes for up to an hour, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m at the auction site. The Long Beach City Government lists various types of bicycles that will be up for grabs. Notably, popular brands like Cannondales and Schwinns will be available.

The Long Beach Police Department will also be able to register newly purchased bicycles right there, so long as an ID and bill of sale are available.

The auction catalog with more details on the various bikes is available on Long Beach’s website. The auction begins at 9 a.m., after the public inspection of the bicycles.
