Sag Harbor Cinema Reopens Five Years after Devastating Fire

The Sag Harbor Cinema has at last recovered from the futile 2016 fire that destroyed it and several other Sag Harbor businesses.

Though no one was hurt, the devastation of the fire made an impact on Sag Harbor’s Main Street businesses, including its historic cinema, which reopened on Friday, April 9.

The cinema at 90 Main St. in Sag Harbor eagerly soft-opened to the public after five long years of recovery and rebuilding. Its grand opening is set for Memorial Day weekend next month. In the meantime, the theater is encouraging movie lovers to come visit and enjoy what they have to offer.

“As we grow our cinema and community, we encourage you to consider joining us a member.  Your membership will gain you discounts at screenings, free popcorn, and much more,” it added.

It will also provide moviegoers with its new cafe and lounge. Additionally, groups looking to reserve an entire space or are simply looking to be COVID-conscious can sign up for “pod screenings” that allow guests to take over an entire room which up to 10 people can attend privately at a $150 cost.

The theater swaps out its movie showings frequently, but is currently showing films such as French Exit, Nomadland, and a handful of others. For updated screenings, ticket sales, membership signup and other information, visit the Sag Harbor Cinema website.
